Syngenta Connections Program

Syngenta is one of the world's leading companies with more than 25,000 employees in over 90 countries dedicated to a common purpose: Bringing plant potential to life. Through world-class science, global reach and commitment to their customers, they help to increase crop productivity, protect the environment and improve health and quality of life.

As part of their global corporate responsibility initiative, Syngenta are offering a unique work experience opportunity for students interested in agronomy – specifically in developing nations.

Agriculture accounts for 70% of global freshwater usage and without it, we cannot grow food. Crop losses due to water scarcity accounted for about US$30 billion in the 2006/07 growing season. Additionally, severe shortages are developing around the world and also in critical agricultural regions and current estimates suggest that two-thirds of the world’s population could be subject to water stress.

The Syngenta Connections Program recognises that it is essential to find ways to use water more efficiently. The program aims to link together organisations and institutions to provide experience and expertise to farmers and researchers through agronomy services, skills and knowledge exchange.

The program is due to take place in July 2011. For more information on the 2011 Syngenta Connections Program, please call Nigel Crawley on (03) 9645 5200. Please note applications have closed for this year.
